Output Management:
From Prompt to Production

Turn Claude responses into files that actually move through a Car-Mart dealership instead of sitting in a chat window.

JONESBORO • PINE BLUFF • CONWAY
THE DAILY PROBLEM

A Jonesboro, Arkansas field collector finishes a 12-account daily route across Car-Mart BHPH customers. He has a stack of handwritten receipts, a notebook with payment promises, and a 2018 Camry and 2014 Silverado that still need follow-up. Today he spends 30 minutes reconciling everything with the office’s main system before he can create anything usable. The collector needs one clean page that shows which customers paid, which promised to pay by Friday, and which require a follow-up call Monday — formatted so it can be saved as a project file, emailed to the dealership, and referenced in next week’s standup without any retyping.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
Structure Claude output so it drops directly into a Car-Mart project file without reformatting
Direct responses to the correct folder and filename for Jonesboro, Pine Bluff, and Conway routes
Write for the actual reader — whether that’s a field collector or a 17-year-old lot attendant
Use precise verbs that produce actionable payment and follow-up instructions instead of vague summaries
Build a reusable default output format in CLAUDE.md that works across Arkansas Car-Mart dealerships
THE FOUR PATTERNS

Tell Claude exactly what you need

FORMAT

Specify the format

“Return as a markdown table with columns: Account, Customer, Vehicle, Status, Amount, Action. Maximum 12 rows. Use the exact route order from my Jonesboro daily summary.”
→ Produces a table that pastes straight into a Car-Mart project file.
DESTINATION

Specify the destination

“Save this as a .md file in my Project’s daily/ folder named 2026-06-08-jonesboro.md. Also prepare a one-paragraph version for the RouteOne system.”
AUDIENCE

Specify the audience

“Write this so a 17-year-old part-time lot attendant at the Springdale dealership can act on it without asking questions.”
VERB

Specify the verb

“Do not summarize. List every account from today’s Harrison and Pine Bluff route. For each, state whether the customer paid, what they promised, and the exact next follow-up step with a deadline.”
T3+ STRETCH

Build a default output format in your CLAUDE.md

Add a permanent section to your CLAUDE.md file that every Car-Mart field collector can reference. Include the exact column headers, filename convention, and tone rules used across Jonesboro, Conway, and Springdale. Once set, you can simply say “Use the standard daily summary format” instead of repeating the instructions.
